“You know, you can’t answer all questions, especially if you create new questions yourself all the time.”
“You’re right. But at least I have to try.”
It is Friday, July 2, 2027. Preparations for the 50th company anniversary of CSB-System AG are running in full blast. What exactly changed in recent years and why? Did the predictions of the futurologists and the trend experts come true? Which technologies prevailed; which innovations produced sustainable values? Was there an industry 5.0 after 4.0? What did the Smart Factory look like in 2027?
How can one write a memory book about the future? This was the question facing the CSB corporate group, which generates approximately EUR 75 million per year with around 600 employees. The family-owned company based in Geilenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) is the leading automation and IT specialist for the process industries food, beverages, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics as well as retail. Specializing in software, hardware, services, and business consulting, CSB has been successful for 40 years. For the fortieth anniversary of the company, the goal was to stay true to the roots of its success, but still above all to deal with the future.
To accomplish this task, CSB, together with WYZE Projects, radically revised the principle of retrospect.
In order to find answers to these questions, the company’s directors, Vanessa Kröner and Dr. Peter Schimitzek, embarked on a journey of discovery into the future. On the way, they met leaders, managers, experts and thinkers from industry and business who told them their own personal ideas about the future. This jubilee book describes which technologies and innovations will change the world over the next few years and what opportunities this will offer CSB and its customers to help shape this change.
